Voted Number One Foodservice Distributor in Australia in 2014, 2016 & 2017 by FSAA (Foodservice Suppliers Association of Australia) at their National Awards of Excellence. We have also won many previous awards as South Australia’s best distributor including 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017.
Voted Number One Distributor for Dominos Pizza in Australia & New Zealand from 2009 to 2014, based on extensive service level KPIs collected from Dominos.
Awarded Best School Distributor by ASCA (Australian School Canteen Association) in 2013, 2015 & 2016.
Established in 1983, Galipo Food Company commenced operation from four domestic refrigerators and freezers in Sebastian Galipo's home garage.
Sebastian’s brother, Bill, joined the business as a partner in 1988. With continued growth, Galipo Foods has had 5 re-locations, including moving to a larger premises in Stepney in 1988 & our current Distribution Centre at Dry Creek in 2003 where we have had 2 expansions.
A Few Facts
In 1983 when Galipo Food Company commenced its business, we were one of fourteen South Australian owned, broad range Food Wholesale Distributors. Today, there are only four remaining from the original group & Galipo Foods is the only one remaining that is still South Australian owned.
Galipo Food Company has grown to be one of the largest, most respected and professional Foodservice Distributors in South Australia, employing over 132 staff with a fleet of 43 trucks. All trucks are H.A.C.C.P. accredited with freezer/chiller/dry goods capability.
Café’s, Restaurants, Hotels, Caterers, Aged Care, School Canteens, Sports Clubs, Fish & Chip Shops, Pizza Bars & many more including large contract customers.
Our drivers service all metropolitan areas of South Australia including outer suburban areas, most regional inner country areas, and also Kangaroo Island and the Adelaide Hills.
Meet Our Team
We are very proud to have 26 staff who have been with Galipo Foods for more than 10 years including 5 staff who have been with Galipo for over 25 years. We really value all of our staff for their dedication & commitment as they are an integral part of our success.
Sebastian Galipo - Started the business in 1983 & is still heavily involved as Managing Director.
Bill Galipo – Became partner with Sebastian in 1988 and is now Director of Purchasing.
Nathan Narayanan – Started in the warehouse in 2008 and was appointed as General Manager in 2013.
Sales Team - Led by Sales Director John Tsouvalas & George Toumpas as Sales Manager. This team is highly respected and has a wide knowledge base across the foodservice industry as well as specialists for the school market.
Purchasing – David Spangler started in the warehouse at the age of 17 & has only worked for one company. He was quickly promoted to the purchasing department & is now purchasing manager. Our buyers liaise with a huge range of suppliers.
Accounts – Led by Diana Heard who has been with the company for over 25 years.
Customer Service – This department is managed by Jean Unger & Karen McCann, with the team working tirelessly processing orders via phone, fax & online.
Warehouse - This excellent team is led by Robby Costanzo who was Sebastian’s first employee, starting with the company in 1983 as a junior assisting Sebastian in delivering stock.
Drivers - This critical team, is trained by Jack Unger & delivers exceptional service throughout South Australia.

Giving Back To The Community
Galipo Foods have been proud supporters of the Make A Wish Foundation since 1990, raising in excess of $200,000 over the past 20 years.
Galipo have also had a strong involvement in the Anti-Cancer Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, Italian Carnevale festival, the Cudlee Creek CFS, upgrading local community halls, the Italian Benevolent Foundation for aged care, the Greek Glendi Festival, the Sicilian Club, Balhannah Football Club, Charleston Bowling Club & many other sporting & community clubs including providing Christmas lunches for the elderly.
